R. Kelly’s Legal Team Reacts To Alleged Third Sex Tape: ‘It Is Not Him’

Another day, another high profile walk-back by R. Kelly‘s attorney Steve Greenberg.

As you’ll recall us reporting earlier this morning, high-profile attorney Gloria Allred came forward revealing how there is an apparent THIRD R. Kelly sex tape, which has just been turned over and is now being investigated by law enforcement. At a press conference hours ago that she live streamed to Facebook, Allred introduced her new client — Gary Dennis, who allegedly found the tape — and told the story of how it came to be.

But now, hours later, it’s Kelly’s attorney Greenberg who is trying to call foul on the whole thing, releasing a statement to TMZ that strongly denies Kelly is involved at all with the supposed third sex tape.

The Lawyer’s Statement

Speaking publicly in an attempt to clear up Kelly’s alleged involvement in this third sex tape, Greenberg said (below):

“R. Kelly denies that he is on any tape with underaged girls. The doubt here is self-evident, with reporting that the man on the tape kinda, sorta looks like R Kelly. That doesn’t make it him. It is not him.”

Greenberg further asks about Gary Dennis himself, and what may come of the fact that he was allegedly in possession of child pornography when he found the alleged tape, asking (below):

“Are [the Dennises] going to be prosecuted? It is obviously now just open season on R. Kelly. It is irresponsible to continue to take the speculation of every Tom, Dick and Harry, and report it as if it is fact.”

Hmmm… feels like Greenberg is arguing in bad faith over that second point about the Dennises being prosecuted, considering they allegedly only came forward once they discovered the content, and immediately decided to hand the tape into authorities, but whatever…

The Defense Strategy?

But it’s that first point Greenberg makes that is the big one here: he strongly denies Kelly is the person in this sex tape, and hopes that investigators will dismiss it soon enough.

If you’ll remember the story that Kelly’s other former lawyer told about his defense of the R&B singer a decade ago, key to the strategy was to confuse and obfuscate the identity of people on the tapes, so that there was enough doubt there as to whether Kelly and/or underage women were present. Is this the same tactic Greenberg is starting to roll out right now???

As for the third sex tape itself, Dennis apparently found the tape when he was going through old VHS tapes of his own.

Tale Of The Tape

According to the man, he initially discovered the tape when it was listed as a “sports tape,” though it also had R. Kelly’s name written on it, too.

When he put it in the VHS player and watched the tape, he quickly realized it was a sex tape after the sports content; Dennis claims that in the video, Kelly is there “engaging in sex acts” with what he perceived to be more than one underage girl.

Hmmm… Kelly (or whoever it is on the tape…) was also allegedly running the camera while directing the girls to do certain things, and in completely control. Dennis identified the man as Kelly, though that hasn’t yet been proven and it’s still very much up in the air. What a scary, random tape to have in your possession — yikes…

At this point, the tape has been turned over to law enforcement officials from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, so it’s out of Dennis’ — and Allred’s — hands. Allred has gone on record saying she believes there are other R. Kelly tapes still out there in circulation, too.

A THIRD R. Kelly Sex Tape Has Reportedly Just Surfaced — Details HERE

If R. Kelly thought he may have some serious problems on his hands dealing with the dogged determination of a high-profile attorney like Michael Avenatti, well, the singer’s legal woes just got a LOT worse… because Gloria Allred is now doubling down on her end of the investigation.

The powerful attorney Allred held a news conference this morning to announce a new client of hers: a man who claims he’s found a THIRD video tape that purportedly shows R. Kelly engaging in sex acts with minors. The man, now repped by Allred, apparently immediately turned the tape over to police when he determined its contents.

Allred’s morning press conference that went down just a bit ago indicated more information about how her client found the tape, and why he chose to come forward with it now. At this point, it’s unclear as to what her client’s relationship is to Kelly himself, though you can watch the press conference on replay from a livestream that has been embedded via Allred’s Facebook page here (below):

Very interesting…

This isn’t really new territory for Allred, considering she reps several other high-profile Kelly accusers, including a pair of women who allege they were first targeted by the R&B singer after a Baltimore concert way back in 1995. (BTW, Allred says a new witness has come forward that allegedly corroborates evidence against Kelly in that case, as well.)

As for the potential third sex tape itself, that’d potentially be a HUGE deal for investigators, who are already sifting through the first two sex tapes handed over by Avenatti’s legal team within the last several weeks. And considering those first two tapes are the impetus for the first ten-count felony indictment against Kelly… a third tape could conceivably bring more charges, and heighten the tension even further as justice plays itself out in this case.

Either way, R. Kelly may have finally been released from jail yesterday after (finally) scrounging up the money to pay his child support debts, but it doesn’t look like there will be any good news for the crooner any time soon — not so long as litigators like Allred (and Avenatti) have anything to say about it.

R. Kelly’s Emotional First Interview Since Being Charged! Preview HERE!

R. Kelly gives his first interview since being charged with aggravated sexual abuse.

Last month, the disgraced singer surrendered to Chicago authorities after being charged with ten counts, spanning at least two decades. The case involves four alleged victims, at least three of whom were younger than 17.

He plead not guilty to all charges, and was released from jail after a $100K bond — just ten percent of his $1 million dollar bail — was posted.

In an EXPLOSIVE interview taped on Tuesday, the musician spoke to Gayle King where he SLAMMED the allegations as “rumors” & “not true.”

When the CBS This Morning host asked if he had ever held any women against their will, an emotional Kelly responded:

“I don’t need to. Why would I?… How stupid would it be for R. Kelly, with all I’ve been through in my way, way past to hold somebody, let alone four, five or six, 50 you said. How stupid would I be to do that?”

He added:

“People are going back to my past — that’s exactly what they’re doing… They’re going back to the past, and they’re trying to add all of this stuff now to that, to make all of this stuff going now feel real to people.”

The 52-year-old even looked directly at the camera to plead his case.

“That’s stupid, guys. Is this camera on me? That’s stupid. Use your common sense. Forget the blogs, forget how you feel about me. Hate me if you want to, love me if you want, but just use your common sense… How stupid would it be for me with my crazy past and what i’ve been through? ‘Oh, right now I just need to be a monster and hold girls against their will, chain them up in my basement, and don’t let them eat, and don’t let them out unless they need some shoes down the street from their uncle.’ Stop it. Y’all quit playing. Quit playing. I didn’t do this stuff. This is not me. I’m fighting for my f**king life.’”

The sentencing range for each Class 2 Felony is 3-7 years, and is probationable. That means if the musician is convicted on all 10 counts, he could possibly face up to 70 years behind bars.

Kelly was also required to surrender his passport, and to not have contact with anyone under 18.

In 2008, the R&B singer was acquitted of child pornography charges.
